GrowMama Community Sew Project goes remote

Want to do some good? Put those sewing skills to good use?

We've had Drop-in Community Sew Days planned and had to cancel twice because of this darn coronavirus and the lockdowns.

So! I have a cunning plan.

We're going to trial going remote.

If you're a kiwi sewist who wants to share the love and support a woman in need, or who could do with a pick-me-up piece of clothing made for her, the GrowMama Community Sew cohort is kicking off next month.

We take nominations - working with a charity or community project for each round- and match sewists with a woman to sew for.

I send you the pattern, you dig into your fabric stash, sew, send me a photo of your make and post the garment to your match. Easy!

We’re using Sonya Philip’s amazing 100 acts of Sewing patterns. They go up to 4XL – whoop! You’ll be sewing a simple top or dress – with pockets! Sonya has very kindly gifted the project with a range of her patterns.

Your women can choose from the 100 acts of Sewing Shirt No#1 or Dress No#2 pattern for this cohort.

Holler if you want to be part of the goodness. We kick off on April 15th. You'll have a month to sew and post.

Taking applications now. Limited places. Sewists announced at the beginning of April.

Go on, add some sunshine to a woman’s wardrobe, get in touch!
