Making: striped chambray Sarah dress

I had this dress cut out and waiting for sewing attention for at least a month.

I wanted to see what the dress would be like with a fabric with more drape and a longer hem. It reminds me of an Ace & Jig dress I saw online somewhere and completely adored.

I’m a big fan of dresses in the summer. Winter, I resort to jeans but it’s too hot in the summertime here in NZ for jeans wearing.
I’m finding it hard to prioritise the time to sew. You know. Paid work commitments, family stuff and you know, eating well. There have been months where I have been too tired in the evenings to do anything creative.

I’ve been more of an effort to eat better (hello more salads and vegetables), drink more water (I realised I would go weeks without, not good!), work smarter and get to bed at a decent hour. I would quite happily go to bed at midnight every night, but given the earlyish starts, this never works out well in the long run.

We’ve been having some stunning winter days of sunshine and the early spring flowers are out. I have bare legs as I type this, so this dress might get an outing one day soon.

Dress: handmade by me
Wooden beads: bought in a Sydney boutique on a work trip last year
Denim jacket: Monki – off trademe
